Any user comment on the small Rural King tractors - especially the RK24 ?
Local store says service is provided by them ........???

I do not own one. My local Rural King had several on their lot. A few sat there for about a year and the paint was terribly faded. As far as service goes I wonder how long they will/can provide service. Just seems to me it will be like all the other off brands that sooner or later you can't get service or parts. Then I think about future resale value. I personally would stick with a name brand.

Local farm store(Atwoods) sold a small imported tractor. Didn't go over very well. No parts or service. It wasn't built very well. Don't remember the name but I've seen the same tractor at the big hunting stores. I wouldn't buy one. Get a good brand so you can get parts and have good resale.

I learned my lesson years ago about service after the sale when I brought a Yenmar because it was the cheapest thing around I would go with a brand name deer Kubota New Holland case I-h they have all been around forever and you able to get parts and service for them

These are geared to homowners with a little acreage who want as tractor but are not going to pay John Deere price. I think the biggest concern will be service after the sale. Rural King is known for jumping into the deep end on something, the drop it like a hot potato if it does not gain traction. If Rural King drops them, then what?

Dont do it, I think they are Yanmar tractors rebadged RK tractors, not knocking Yanmar brand but I know I would not buy one from the Rural King thats about an hour and a half west of me. No adequate service or knowledgeable repair of the tractors at that store. Ive heard they have to take them somewhere else to be worked on. Too many good reputable brands out there if you want a new tractor.

I thought some John Deere are really rebadged Yanmars. May be in error but that is what I was told, I think on this site.

NO reason to fear a Yanmar unless it is a "gray market" unit that Yanmar USA doesn't support with parts.

Yanmar has been in business since 1912.

As to the original question, I believe the RK tractors are "TYM" from South Korea.

Yes, the Rural King tractors are just rebranded TYMs.No personal experience, but I had a friend I worked with once that had one (a TYM) and seemed to like it quite a bit.

TYM tractors are using Yanmar engines, Im not knocking the brand, they are good looking tractors but Rural King is
not staffed with good tractor mechanics and shop equipment, at least not at the nearest Rural King near me. For that
reason I wound not buy one from them. I spoke with a tractor dealer last year that was repairing tractors for RK that
eventually quit doing it because of delay in getting parts and he said he didnt have room on his lot to be repairing
tractors he wasnt selling, he told me to stay away from the brand as I was looking for a compact backhoe and was
considering one that RK had, instead I bought a used Terramite and love it...

My Rural King has tried three other tractors . The old Futon from china sure did not go over then they tried some other china brand. After that they had a marketing agreement with Massey that went sour and now the rebadged TYMs. The lack of any qualified service department just kills the deal. I would venture to say in another 15 months there will be some deals out there on the existing stock. They are already moving units around from store to store to make it appear they are selling.

My friend bought a new YTM 55 hp. He complains, zero service from dealer.
I have only one dealer in Terre Haute that has been in business since 1967.
That's the place I bought my New Kubota.
I wouldn't buy a car, truck or tractor unless there's a local dealer with a good parts
and service department.

There are cars I would consider buying, but no deal if I have to travel to Indy for
service and warranty work.

If you buy used tractor, buy a tractor that a local dealer that has parts for and
possible service work. Everything breaks down sooner or later.

My question is not about yesterdays tractors, so I apologize if some of you think my question is inappropriate for this forum, but I suspect many of you will have some very thoughtful opinions.

Background:

I am looking to buy a new compact tractor. Almost all brands use the "common rail injection" system. The common rail injection (CRI) systems all have an ECR (computer brain) to run the tractor with over 20 chips. Supposedly the CRI is more efficient. The efficiency of the engines is part of the reason the engines are tier 4 emissions compliant.

One brand has a 10 year warranty. A dealer that sales that brand told me the tractor power train is a "rock". The only warranty issues he has are generally operator error or chip failure. But the chip warranty is only two years. Chip failure shuts the tractor down.

The one exception is Branson. Branson kukje engines use old school mechanical injection with only 7 or eight chips. My understanding is the chips can fail but that failure doesn t necessarily shut the tractor down

I like the Branson tractor for a lot of reasons. The one negative I have seen is weak dealer support compared to other brands. The Branson dealers in my area seem to be mostly lawn mower dealers branching out into tractor sales. Most have very few tractors on their lots. Most advice on other tractor forums seem to say, "buy the dealer".

But I digress,

My question is: Am I over thinking my tractor purchase? Should I be so concerned with CRI systems vice the mechanical injection of the Branson tractor?
