We put up our 3 cutting last weekend. It yielded good for the 3ed cutting. Need to hit it with round up this weekend to get rid of some grass coming thru. Looks like my 3ed cutting of grass hay is a week or two out.

I thought they would cut it last week, must have been too busy once their other hay ground dried out.

I cut hay every week, my lawn is growing like crazy. Never seen so much dead grass.
Last time, I mowed x2 to chop up the dead grass.

So if lawns are growing like crazy, why not your hay fields?

We were at our cabin by Bemidji Mn this past week and there is no first cutting because of the drought. Where they tried to cut hay the yield was probably 10% of what it should be. The pastures look like they were mowed with a lawn mower and burned down with Round up. Not good and feel sorry for the livestock owners. Gordy in MN

3rd? Some of my second cutting is still standing, a month late now because until this week there hasn't been more than ONE day in a row without rain for an entire month. 5-6 days a week for the entire month of July, rain.

I ended up selling the last 20 acres to the neighbor BTO to chop with his 3rd cutting. I have 12 acres on the ground, which should be just dry enough to get ruined when it rains this afternoon. Not dry enough to bale.

I mowed 8 acres of second cutting Monday. Got it washed this afternoon. Talked to 2 neighbors today who are still trying to get first cutting done. Uncut first will only get better from now on, as second growth will start increasing in the bottom of the first. happened to me one year- I couldn't get one farm done until early August. Surprised several people how nice it looked.
