The seed salesman told me I had to mow it about 4 to 6 inches tall, not as short as you mow most hay. Does anyone know if that is true and why it has to be mowed taller, will it kill it if mowed short?
 
4" minimum. Cut 45 days after germination and every 45 days after that. I don't raise it but been custom plantin some. Good Luck.
 
Was custom swathing years ago and one customer had planted some Teff and I don't remember having to cut it higher than normal but then that was some time ago. It did make really nice hay but not much quantity, probably because of the limited rainfall.
