WHAT OIL SHOUID I USE I HAVE A IH UTILITY 300 AND IT DOES NOT HAVE A (TA) TORQUE AMPLIFIER. ON THE TRANSMISSION AND DIFFERENTIAL I HAVE BEEN TOLD TO USE HY TRAN SEA 80 OR SAE-10W OR SAE-10 MOTOR OIL OR GEAR OIL 90 W. IF ANY ONE OUT THERE CARE TO SHARE SOME KNOWLEDGE ON WHAT OIL OLD RED SHOULD USE I WOULD DEEPLY APPRECIATE IT AND IM SURE OLD RED WOULD TOO

90wt will be fine. 80W-90 is also good. The Live PTO (if it has one) needs Hytran to operate correctly, it is seperate from
the rear drive components.

It's not critical what oil you use as long as you use oil.

Originally these tractors would have come with heavy gear oil, but that caused the TA to not shift properly, so IH quickly came up with using common SAE10 engine oil with a special torque amplifier additive. This later evolved into "Hytran."

Since yours does not have a TA, you can either use heavy gear oil or Hytran.

On an old tractor such as this there is absolutely no need to buy genuine Hytran from the dealer. There is nothing exotic in the transmission that would require the latest additives. Just use any universal hydraulic/transmission tractor fluid that says it is compatible with CaseIH Hytran.

What I would use is Shell Spirax S4 TXM hydraulic fluid. It is equal
to CIH HyTran. We used it when I worked at an old CIH dealer, and it
is what I have in my 300u.
You can use 90w oil in the trans because it is separate from the
hydraulic reservoir on the 300u, but just don't use cheap hydraulic
fluid. Mark.

80-90 gear oil will be just great. if ta then u use hytran or equvalent. do not use engine oil or straight hyd. oil. differentials dont like
that on a heavy pull. but just idling around as a chore tractor is a different story.
