I finished my first cutting hay yesterday and put it in the barn today. The hay barn might have room for another 8-10 big rounds and then it will be full. I almost never do squares any more since that doesn't work well for one man to do

Glad to heard you got the 1st cutting put away .. did your VAC run out of gas yet ??

keep cool { it's 99 with HIGH humidty here .. central Iowa } ... mark

old,

You are so right about square bales. I still do squares but I'm always behind the eight ball due to lack of help and rainy weather. I do 20 acres of squares by myself but if I could afford to do so, I'd switch to round bales in a heartbeat.

Years ago I traded a Farmall B with a belly mount sickle mower for a NH850 round baler and have pretty much baled with it ever since but I did have to get a bigger tractor also. I was told my Oliver 77 would handle the NH850 but it wouldn't do so. So I found an Oliver S88 and it plays with it

Old,
I baled enough hay as a kid, I have no desire to ever bale again.
Eat bales of dirt and hay. Have no desire to raise hay burning animals either.
10 years on a dairy farm was enough.
