Out of the house and into the shop

We spent the first night in the shop. Moved the bed out yesterday. The range and refrigerator and other stuff will be out by the end of the day.Just like the early pioneers. A cabin with a dirt floor!LOL We expect to be staying in the shop during the transition into the new house. I hope it's only 2-3 weeks but am expecting a month
(or more).I have a 'portable' outdoor shower setup. the washing machine is going just outside, cold water wash only but better than the laundrymat. Already have a coffee pot, microwave, small frig and table,so no biggies there. And an 'old fashioned' outhouse out back. :) .Going to be an adventure!

A friend with a temporarily unused slide in camper, or similar might be more bird and insect proof! Just a thought. Best from here. Jim

I spent about three weeks in my shop before the apartment was built. But I was on concrete slab. O bought a screen tent to put in it to sleep without bugs flying around me. Laid out 150 feet of hose on the back yard with water in it for a noon shower. Navy shower that is. Big stainless table was my kitchen.

Navy shower--Master at arms standing next to it with a stop watch waiting to write you up if the water runs too long!! We always said a Marine shower was a can of Right Guard!!---Tee

ep, don't even need to remove shirt!

Good luck, we were going to have thanksgiving in our new house. We moved in March

Two different neighbors bought campers instead of expanding their homes. One got a pop-up topper for kids sleep-overs and family camping trips. The other got an older motor home for $1,500. This year camper might be in short supply.

Hopefully you will look back on this as a not so bad adventure. Time will seem to drag probably, but make the best of it. The outcome looks to be very nice. Good luck - Bob

Sounds like my parents.

A year after they were married, their house burned down.

My parents, my dad's uncle, and my dad's grandmother lived (existed?)in a two stall detached garage while a new house was being built.

Back in 1980 when I moved to where I am now I was a bit better off then you but not much. I got a 1956 8X45 mobile home for $2500. It was built up north so good insulation. That was in July and it was a hot year. I had power so had a 5000BTU A/C unit which did ok but No water and no sewer. Neighbor I had at the time was one of the few good ones and he dug out a spring close to where it was parked. Put a pump in the spring for water and dug a hole for the sewer till I could do more. Got along just fine other then I was us to living in Norfolk VA. so the country noises at first drove me nuts. LOL
