Is there something that sticks in a CAV pump?

I got a good White 2-105 with the Perkins engine. I have not needed it since I put it in the shed last fall. Cranks over good but no smoke comes out. Has the cable fuel stop. Guess I should at least start it once in awhile.

yes there is . mine does the same thing on my combine with that perkins. i just crank it over and keep working the throttle back and forth and so far it fires up after a while. same deal no smoke , no fire. plus now i throw in 2 cycle oil to help. i will see soon what happens as i have not had it started since november. need advise from deisel tech.

Any traces of water in fuel, or bio diesel can cause the metering valve and/or rotor plungers to stick after setting awhile without running engine. I have a JD 5020 pump apart now for the same trouble, metering valve and both rotor plungers were stuck on tear down..

welp i have used 15-40 to fill fuel filters for years and i also buy cheap Type A ATF in the gallon jugs and just DUMP what ever in at fill up . Many moons back when i had the semi and on a long haul i picked up a bad batch of fuel at union 76 truck stop and started loosen power , while tryen to pull a hill and Al. Cop saw me dragging up the hill and came after me thinking i was over loaded . As i pulled off the side of the road to have a chat with this cop the truck quite . I was out of the cab and had the hood open when he walked up and started running his mouth , at the same time i removed the fuel filter and was holding it as i was tryen to explain that i was having truck problems with the fuel and to get the point across i turned the filter upside down and poured a filter full of water out on the ground and on his boots and said SEE WATER NOT DIESEL FUEL , TRUCK NO RUN ON WATER . NOT OVER LOADED . as he was still running his mouth i cracked the cross over line between the two tanks and nothing but water was coming out . I'll bet i drained off twenty gallon of water before i got fuel. I had a spare fuel filter with me but no way to fill it with fuel i could not just pop the cross over off and fill with that as i really would have made a hug mess , but i had ENGINE OIL and i filled the filter with that and spun it back on and restarted the truck. . Next hill she never slowed down and strolled over the top like always in the passing lane passing everything , So i used engine oil everytime after lot less mess and way easier to fill out of a gallon jug.

Ive used 15 40 as well it really helps clean things up . Ran my old dodge out of fuel one time just happened to have 2 Gallon of hytran with me dumped it in and drove home . Had a big John Deere track tractor that wouldnt idle sounded like an alcohol powered tractor puller . Dumped a gallon jug of 15 40 in the fuel tank and put it on the chisel plow after a 12 hour day it idled perfectly after that and still did the day it got traded in on a bigger tractor
