Removing dents from PTO shield

The shield around the PTO driveline on my NH 311baler have a few
dents in it. This limits travel back and forth or rather in and out on the
PTO shaft and shield. The shield is steel and not plastic.
What have you done to remove dents?

Remove the shield from the shaft assembly. Find yourself a large shaft, or heavy pipe, which will fit inside the shield. Closer to the size of the shield the better. Clamp the shaft/pipe in a big vise, slide shield over it, and go to work with a hammer.

Eaiest way is like Bob said. If you can heat it some they will come out easier. a slight taper on the shaft or pipe will help with no scalping the inside as it goes by the area with the dent. You only need to do the outside piece to slide.

If you are lucky enough to have the right size in your or a friends toolbox a tailpipe expander would push out the dents.
