I found an owners manual for a early 50's Ford F1 I think they were called. It was not very thick, but had all kinds of information, engine clearances, carburetor repair, tune up specs, transmission break down, front end alignment, differential set up...
And it covered several engine and drive train options.
With that book just about any repair could be made. Nerry a mention of 'take it back to the dealer'!

ack in the '70s I worked with an older gentleman that started driving after coming home from WWII and he told me that back then if you drove all week without a flat you were very lucky
