New Holland 4630 clutch pilot

Does anyone know if the Ford/New Holland 4630 tractor uses a bushing or bearing for the transmission clutch pilot? A friend has one that is scraping going into gear. The pedal free play seems about right, might need taking up a bit. Any other ideas welcome.

Check the transmission oil level. The oil acts as a damper slow the spinning inertia. If it's low it
will spin freer and longer.

Let the engine idle down longer, be sure the idle is set as low as practical.

It could be the clutch is nearing the end of it's life. Once the disc is worn beyond the groves in
the lining, it will tend to stick due to vacuum between the disc and the flywheel or pressure plate.

And a failing pressure plate will cause one to drag. Mechanically worn release mechanism, or heat
warped, either will cause this, especially if chatters on engagement.
 
It's got a ball bearing for the pilot. Make
sure the linkage is not worn and giving you
a false reading of free travel. Wear is
common on those things. Dry pilot bearings
are less common but at this point if it's
never been replaced it could well be dry
and catching.

Thanks for the replies and information. I looked and the tractor only has a little over 1,200 hours on it. Will do some checking as suggested. I have not even been on it, just going by what the owner says. Will try it myself tomorrow. Thanks again.
