Posted this don on the massey board and have gotten no response. Only been 3 posts there since morning. I have a 1999 Massey 4253. Heard a bad sounding noise while roading It. Wasnt right for a squealing alt, compressor, or belt. It was intermittent on the road (3) times in 8 miles. Brush hogged pasture for about 3 hours and pulled out to some shade and let it idle while I took a break. After a little bit got a black dirty exhaust. Throttled it up and it cleaned up. Could hear a whine. Took it to the barn a parked under big shade tree. Does this sound like an issue with the turbo?
Thanks
Andy

Need to do a process of elimination. Remove the fan belt and run it just long enough to hear the noise or not. Also check all turbo hoses. Pull the hose off the turbo and check the impeller for play, and condition. Mark

If you have an inter cooler, make sure that the hoses and fittings are tight and not leaking. Hose between the turbo and the intake with out inter cooler will also make a lot of noise if it gets loose.
