Today is the Bruce Dern Marathon Birthday Bash on the Inspirational Channel. Bruce Dern movies and TV series shows that featured Bruce, the notable western bad guy from 8 AM to 3 PM today, Saturday. He appeared, although briefly, in many movies and TV shows because his character usually had a violent end. Happy birthday, Bruce!
 
A great actor. Always made you glad when he was dead. The bad guys are every bit as important to a good movie as the good guys, they just make less money.
 
See him on some old tv on MeTV and other channels, some of his first roles.

What an evil personality he could play, with that snear on his face......

So bad he actually killed John Wayne (on screen) in The Cowboys. In the end those little boys killed him! With the help of a clever black man , Nightlinger.
 
Watched the Cowboys at the cinema with my brother when it was released. Had bad dreams for months about Bruce Deans character coming for me.
 
John Wayne warned him that folks would hate him for that role. He said something to the effect that they would remember him. He was right on both counts.
 
Its funny how you associate the person in real life with the role model. Bruce had his role and I hated him....especially in True Grit or one of the last JW westerns where he killed JW......he killed JW...nobody kills JW....but he did!

Not too long ago he hosted some Dish westerns I think it was and he wasn't acting while MCing the event. He's a pretty neat guy after all.....

Well you have to have the bad guys to have the hero....something inspirational....boy when I grow up I'm going to............ It works!
