Length of day, angle and height of the sun

This is the length of sunlight today and the angles . The sun shines in the same North windows at sunrise and sun set.

I always knew the sunrise move a lot with the seasons, but after we moved to our lake home facing East it's most obvious. There is
a bicycle trail bridge on the other side of the lake where someone scribed the sunset angles in the handrail, appropriate graffiti!

We have garage doors facing north. At this time of year early morning or late evening with the low sun angle the direct sunlight
causes the electric eye to keep the door from closing unless the direct sunlight is blocked. Last evening I had to stand where my
shadow was over the electric eye while my wife closed the door. Anyone else experienced this?

Yes, I've had the same issue.

Swapping the sensors each to the opposite side of the door solved the problem.

(One is an IR light emitter and the other is an IR light sensor, if strong sunlight shines on the sensor it overwhelms the signal from the emitter.)

Perhaps in your situation it would swap the time of tear there's a problem from fall to spring, though?

I have long found the estival solstice a bit depressing, knowing that daylight will shorten for the next six months, even though summer has just arrived.

Conversely, I have also found the heimal solstice uplifting, knowing that daylight will lengthen for the next six months, even though winter has just arrived.

Besides, I like to dance around the bone fire in the middle of the night with the other greenie pagans.

Sorry, but I could not help myself.

Where are you located, I don't see you on the members map? You must be a little S of us, our days are about 25 min. longer. We have and
outdoor temperature sending unit on the N side of our house, and this time of year the sun heats it up morning and evening.

b&d That is pretty neat. I looked up here and you have almost 1 hour more daylight. We are at 36 degrees N. Lynn

Yep!! Stand up fork truck at work had an eye that killed the truck if broken( stopped the truck if you stepped or fell off). At the right time of morning or afternoon, the angle of the sun would block the sender and make the truck crawl until you could turn enough to get it out of the light.

This day always leaves me a little depressed knowing the
days are already starting to get shorter.

(quoted from post at 20:17:55 06/20/21) Yes, using you sunrise/sunset I see you are NW of Stratford ON? My grandfather came from Chatham-Kent area to N MN. in 1904.

Rather close on the calculation there. Bruce County actually .
Walt Disney's Grandfather had a farm near Bluevale in Huron County. In the mid 1960's Walter and wife came up for a visit. He broke his glasses while here and went to the local optometrist for repairs. The staff asked his name and would not believe he was Walter Disney.

The highest the sun will make it here is 69.15 degrees . So it's not really overhead even at the best of times. Certainly better than in the winter however.

June 21st is my birthday. As a little boy my mother always told me I was born on the longest day of the year. That was OK until I got to school and found out that every day has 24 hours. Now I was confused, who to believe, Mother or the teacher. Finally they explained that June 21 had the longest daylight, but when day and night was combined it was still 24 hours, just like every other day of the year. Just one of our corny little family stories, like the ones every family has.
