back then with horses it was ride the implement. horse mower, rake , disc , grain binder and so on. i remember dad riding them all. even had ride the binder with tractor.
 
The seats were often and optional items. I remember some old timers remarking that growing up they had to walk behind disks and harrows. The worst part was great great grandpa bought seats after the boys left home. I remember when our dads bought cab tractors after our generation left home. Some things do stay the same across the generations.
 
Only a mere 11or 12 years after that merge in 1925 Grandpa bought his diesel D-4 and no it is not an RD-4 A D-4 diesel. He had a cat 60 before the D-4 according to dad. He bought the D-4 new. S/N 4G8 Supposed to be about a 36or37 model.
