My Honda 350 Rancher calls for either 10-30 or 10-40 depending on your ambient temperatures. I use 10-40 year round because winter temperatures where I'm at don't get that low normally.

I would go with Honda oil or motorcycle oil it has an antifoaming agent in it if your gear box and engine share the same oil , if not then what others have suggested

I use the same 15/40 'fleet diesel' in my 3 and 4 wheelers. The same as everything else on the place.Started with the 20 wt Phillips when a was a kid with my first Trail 90. Just used(stole) some of my dad's oil when I did the first change. As I grew and 'matured',I still use the same oil as everything else. Keeps it simple,no putting in the 'wrong' oil.Been doing it for 50 years,so I guess it's OK.Currently own a '82 Honda ATC 200 and a '84 Fourtrax 200.Both are high mileage, well worn machines that I kept running long after most guys would have junked em.Bullet proof 'energiser bunnies',never have had any work done, just have had the crap ridden out of them.what I am trying to say,is I dont think brand of oil matters, just keep em full of clean oil that is changed occationally. However, your automatic may take something special. Read he manual,or check with the dealer. At which time they will try to sell you their owm particular brand/flavor of oil. Which may or maynot any better than any other. Just more expencive.

I use the Shell Rotella 15w-40 in mine. It is JASO MA approved so it works for wet clutches. Mine is an older 4 wheeler so the 15w-40 was a good choice. If it was a new 4 wheeler I would use the Rotella 5W-40. Thats what we use in the wife's as it is new and has not seen much use.

The engines get hot putting around or working so I don't see the 15 weight oil being bad as it will be more shear stable in high temps. If you were going to use it in sub-zero temps I might switch back to 10w-40 oil but its too cold for me to ride when its that cold.
