Ford 800 series loader on 8N

Hello,

Looking for a little help. I have a Ford 8N and Im looking to put a loader on it. Someone local has a 800 series loader for sale and Im just wondering if this would work on mine?

You don't say what model loader, but the
common Ford loader for the 800-series
tractors was the 703-series 19-97 (double
acting cylinders) and 19-105 (single-
acting lift cylinders). An attaching kit
was available for the 8N, 19-115. I think
you could make it work but
look/measure/plan before buying.

Im waiting on the model number. Only info Ive received is that its for is a 800 Ford. I do have a picture though. If it helps

That looks like a 703 except the horizontal arms that go to the back of the tractor and pin to the axle brackets aren't there. Also do you get the pump, pump mounting hardware, front drive shaft etc? I'd say keep looking, too much work to adapt.

Alright well Ive been pretty discouraged and turned away from this loader now. Any recommendations on a decent one to get?

A little over my pay scale (retired=0), but that is too much loader for an 8N, which, by the way is NOT a great loader tractor. Many will say that back in the day and stuff like that, but, to be honest (as the Brits say) you would be time and $$ ahead to get a tractor more suitable with an included loader. HTH

If you want to junk out the front axle go ahead if not then don't put it on. You will wish you didn't. Go find somebody that has a loader on a tractor with no power steering and try it first. You'll soon agree with the rest of us.

The N Fords are good, handy tractors.
But they suck with a loader on them.
Big, cumbersome attachment on the front
makes that nimble little tractor a
dreadnought to steer and maneuver. With no
power steering it takes 40 acres to turn
one around.
Lots of folks say you Gots to have a loader
on your tractor. I have been messing with
small Fords for 20 years now and get by
just fine without a loader. For lifting
stuff I use a boom pole. For hauling rocks
or bags or tools I use a rear scoop.
For snow clearing or driveway maintenance I
use a back blade.
I say if at least 50% of the tasks you need
to do requires a loader then put a loader
on. If less than 50% forget it.

"Back in the day" the only thing they had to compare it with was a shovel, and a loader on an 8N is definitely better than a shovel.

The problem is a lot of people don't understand that times change, equipment improves. They will go to their graves saying that an 8N loader is better than sliced bread because they are still comparing it to a shovel, not even a 10-year-newer tractor with live hydraulics and power steering, let alone a new machine with fast hydraulics, all wheel drive, and hydrostatic transmission.
