Last December I bought a well neglected Oliver 1550

I worked on it thru the spring, fixed a lot of oil leaks and cleaned up quite a bit of the caked on grease and dirt. I'm going on a 3 day tractor ride next week and wanted it to look better for the ride, so I threw a coat of paint on it.
It turned into a swan.

Look close on the left rear fender, I even made a bracket to hold the new cane that I made. Then My wife talked me into making a drink holder, so I made one this afternoon and painted it, I'll put it on tomorrow before I load up. It ain't perfect, but it's a lot better than it was!!!

Looks really nice, I remember that feeling of seeing one completeted, and the sense of pride and exhaustion on completion.

On a separate not I think I have the weight that sits on top of the one you have. I do not remember where it come from. And I cannot see how it mounts. I am not familiar with olivers.

I have one stack weight for it, but don't need it for tractor rides. There is a divot on each side on top that the next one drops into and a long bolt goes thru the middle to hold it on. Thanks.

Looks great. If I were to add an Oliver to my collection a 1550 would be the one I would get. It would go well with my Deere 2510's. Tom

Sweet...They are not a real common tractor..Lots of 1650's and 1850's in my area but not a single 1550 that I can remember..

Nice job !

Dad had a 1550 when I was a kid. I thought it was a great tractor and so did he. I'd pull the choke out some to get it to smoke like a diesel when on a good pull. Never told dad that though. Lol

That is one beautiful tractor, nicely done!

Looks very nice. The only problem I can see, is it is in your yard and not mine. Thanks for showing us what a lot of hard work can turn into.

BKT all around, they were the cheapest I could find. 15.5x38 rears and 600x16 fronts plus new tubes cost me 1/2 of the price of the tractor . They are narrower than the old tires that came off of it, same size.

The dealer in My area, South East N.D. use to order 50 at a time, he would run a ad In Hoards Dairyman and sell them all over the USA, they were pretty good loader tractor!

Looks good, nice job.
We had allot of Oliver in my area back in the day but never saw a 1550. Allot of 1600,1650,1750,1800,1850,and many 55,550's. Never seen any 1550's but must have been poplar elsewhere as it seems allot of the folks on here have them.

I like the tractor dressed up in evening clothes and also in its work duds. I guess it's now 24/7 dressed up ...... very nice.
