My last work day.

I am officially retired at 64 1/2. I will continue to work part time doing outside maintainence this summer because I like it.
I have been a janitor, sporting goods salesman, communications field service engineer, phone man and most recently worked for two racecar companies.
As a field service engineer I traveled to 48 of our 50 states and 12 foreign countries. I love to travel so that was fun.
It's been fun but a lot of hard work for almost 50 years. Time now to have fun working on my own projects.
Dave

Congrats on your retirement! I retired over 2 years ago and am busier now than before. At least now I can choose which tractor to work on or volunteer at church fundraiser. Don't know how I had time for a full time job. Enjoy, steve.

Retired 12 years ago at 54. Best thing I ever did. Figured I would get all things done I had been putting off. Now I find I will never finish all my projects because I keep adding more-haha. Stay busy and enjoy every day!

Congratulations sir. I am not far behind you. I had my time vested last June. I may work 1 more year and retire at 55.

Congratulations on your retirement!! The first couple years after I retired I couldn't figure how I ever got anything done when I worked 5 days a week. So many projects I didn't have time for before I guess.

Good for you.

Be 62 in July, got 33 years in, got myself financially where I wanted to be to retire. Also spend 2.5 hours a day commuting.

Want to, just insecure I suppose.

Fred

Congratulations sir!, I retired 5 years ago at 56, wouldnt have it any other way, I dont miss it a bit, but it took many years of planning to be fortunate enough to do it! Enjoy!

I retired in 96 after 36 years with the same computer company. I retired as soon as I could. I got a small pension, which helps. Stan

Keep your retirement a secret as long as possible!

I was able to squeeze out 1.5 years of quality time before anyone found out I had bailed. Now everyone I know thinks I'm bored (despite always being gone on road trips or busy working in the garage) and would be happy to finish up their stalled/money pit projects- for free, naturally...

Good Luck!

I didn't think I could quit farming cold turkey so I rented 300 of my 400 acres out for this year. Now I can't wait for this year to be over so I can stop running the last 100.

Congratulations on your retirement. It is almost a year since I did. You will ask yourself how did you ever have time to go to work. There just not enough hours in a day for everything.

I don't know Bruce. There are weeks I think seriously about going back to work just so I can get some rest. Lol Between trying to get caught up on stuff you let slide for years and projects everyone you know finds for you to do since you aren't working there isn't much free time. Nieces husband is trying to rope me into helping him build a house now. I'm getting too old for all these extra projects.

Course being a dairy farmer you're used to no free time. Lol

I retired 1st of april this year at age 64.5 I love it Do not know what day of week it is and do not care Of course i still have my small farm and 20 head of cross bred beef cows to take care of. Oh yea i rented some more hay ground and bought different baler I think i see a patern here

Hope you enjoy it. I retired a month ago at 70, I feel like a fish out of water. Still farm a couple of hundred. BIL says it takes a year or two to get in the groove.

Well done Dave, when I first retired 20 years ago I'd tell everyone that 'every night is Friday night' .... and it might be for you too.
