Hit Miss Parts

I posted this down on Stationary Engines, but not much traffic down there...

Anyone know if Hit Miss Enterprises is still in business?

I sent them an email first of the week, no response. Tried to call, not a good number.

Their website is still up.

Any other sources of Fairbanks Morse parts?

PS: I tried to get on Smokestack, but you have to get permission. I sent them the email, it was ignored. Maybe an over site, maybe they are full, maybe it's my reputation?

A MM guy told me recently he had trouble with the Smokstak site as far as getting on. He never heard back from them after applying.
What parts are you in search of?

There is a post from April 2021 on Smokstak on this very topic and the discussion didnt rave about HMEs current state or service. Opinion was in favor of trying Starbolt. I know of a handful of guys that use Starbolt with good success. Flywheel Supply might be an option as well.

Thanks!

I looked through both sites, they have a listing on some of what I need.

Looking for a head gasket, rings, main bearings for now. If I can get the basics in place I may be looking for a gas carb and fuel tank. Right now it has a starting carb and set up for propane. Never heard it run, but the seller said he had it running once.

Main bearings seem to be the hard to find item. That's why I didn't bother to try to get it running, the bearings are very loose, but the crank looks runable. I may have to try to make some bearings. They are machined out of babbit. Tempted to try to make them out of aluminum bronze.

Just trying to make a runnable display engine, may try to find something to use it for later, build a cart for it. Like to find an antique belt drive 110v generator.

As far as I know they are gone. They took my money and ran. Well, drug their feet for 6 months and then closed shop and kept my money. I'm not the only one that got screwed.

The owner has passed away. He was the glue that held it together evidently.Flywheel Supply and Starbolt are the major suppliers now.

For hard to find parts,it is a major loss. Years ago, if they didn't stock it,they would build it.

The owner had some serious health trouble and I think they are essentially done. Flywheel Supply and Starbolt are the go-to sources.
