Rock Crushers

Pretty much all quarries have old ones sitting. I have been in quarries where they are still sitting where they were last used.

Would be nice if they made one to work autonomously. Go out in the field and find the rocks and crush them there then put the gravel in a small dump bed.

Been looking for a rock crusher for years. The Amish have snatched up all the small ones around here. I can find quarry sized jobs but no way to power something that big. Love to have one!

You are not the only one! I responded to an ad for a rock crusher in KY. a few years ago. The guy had sold it a few minutes after his ad came out and had been fielding calls about it for several days- I was number 30-40.

Be aware that because of the hard work its designed to do, even a very small one is still a VERY heavy machine. That probably lead to many of them not being used getting scrapped over the years.

Ive been on the hunt for one too, but so far it looks like if I want to crush rocks with any hint of efficiency, I'll have to join a Chain-Gang...

One old crusher that I saw was a jaw type that was only two feet wide. It would have been the primary crusher for a good sized quarry.

The alloy steel foundry I worked for made crushing elements for rock crushers. HUGE things, close to the heaviest casting we poured, right around 40,000# gross. Not sure what alloy we poured them out of. All the parts I chased out of the foundry were for automobile and/or scrap metal processing equipment, most were a 30-carbon chrome-nickle-moly and some had a bit of boron in the mix. We had 11 heat treating furnaces all in a row the size of 2-stall garages. EVERYTHING we made spent several nights in those furnaces.

My late cousin's sons have one in their earth moving business, but I've never seen it up close.

They crush used concrete and use it in roadbeds.

My uncle has an old rock crusher sitting in the fence row. I can remember it hooked up to the old Farmall M and throwing rocks in it. I know a tree fell and bent part of the conveyor out the back. My dad had one as well but he wasn't smart enough to not let someone borrow it. He never got it back and it finally sold on someone's auction years ago.

Here's my jaw crusher, a Diamond Iron Works 916 meaning it has an opening 9 inches deep and 16 across. It weighs about 4500 lb. In the background is an Allis Chalmers - Superior McCully gyratory crusher.

And here, I thought a "Rock Crusher" was a 60's Chevy 4 speed transmission!?

Does your uncle want to sell it. I would appreciate it if you would ask him. My Email is open. Thanks Gerald

I kinda doubt it. It belonged to his dad who bought it from the county. He mentioned not to long ago getting it out and fixing it up. He wants to tear out an old rock fence. A some day project that probably won't happen.
