7000 JD Planter Problem

My 1979 John Deere 7000 4RW corn planter is having a problem this year, the markers are supposed to alternate depending on which one went down or back up, mine is not doing that, the same one keeps on wanting to go down and not triggering the opposite one, what do i need to do to fix this?

I tried shaking them but it didn't help much, i know its aggravating!! I'm not good enough yet to plant with no markers, that would be a funny picture to see! I think they worked good one time so far this spring.

Each time I had troubles with mine I found a large mouse nest in the right side causing it not let the trip unit to work

Mouse nest.

Loose nt the cable from the left marker, tie a long rope on it.

Rotate the left marker back, take out the couple bolts, pull the actuator out, clean out the mouse nest.

Look the actuator over, it might have some wear or bad spring or something, but more likely a mouse nest.

Notice where the hyd line is in the tube - the mouse pee will corrode it and you will need to replace it some year.

Put everything back together, notice the short hyd hose and how that has to fit in freely.

Use the rope to pull the left cable over to attach to the left marker again.

Hey Paul, thanks for the info, just so i'm clear on this, are you talking about the left side standing behind the planter or in front of it?
