I sowed 10 acres of Orchard grass in well tilled soil and got 98% stand of Rye grass. How do I eradicate this pest and reseed Orchard grass?
Local Co-OP says I did something wrong?

If the acres were originally Rye grass, and plowed under, or field cultivated, the rye will dominate. It may come back repeatedly until all seads are germinated and none are remaining. Burning it down with Herbicide may reduce the regrowth. Also cutting the stand before it matures and reseeds will help. Jim

Thx--I understand it will not come back this year after being mowed so I'm not sure I will have folage to burn down? Also afraid to till as that's what I did this past year and made it worse?

Cut it let it regrow then a burn down with Liberty or sharpen will take care of it. Might need to quell any regrowth if you reseed next year or this fall. Could also work it after cutting then let set to regrow and burn down what is left. Or work it as it regrows to keep it killed till you reseed.
