Under normal circumstances would they put that many windows in a building in Alaska as the one on the right? I would think if it was real cold you would tend to build with less windows. Just my far flung observation.

Styling looks a bit like a Lada, popular and cheap in Eastern Europe. They made a 4X4 version. Looks like he got a deal on some flotation ag tires like they use on monster trucks.

In Iceland they generically refer to heavily-modified trucks as "SuperJeeps." Doesn't matter what brand. They favor Ford trucks and Toyota Highlanders are also popular.

On a glacier tour I took years back when their economy had collapsed and you could get good deals on what would otherwise be high-end excursions, the driver took me up on a glacier in his Toyota, stopping every so often to let air out of the tires. When they were down to 1-3 PSI, we got on the snow. He had an onboard compressor that allowed him to air up the tires once we were back on the road.

The truck in this photo is part of their network of rescue teams. They are self-funded, not part of any official government agency, but they are volunteers and save people when they're in trouble. Unfortunately, a lot of their rescues are the result of stupid tourists who knowingly flaunt safety warnings in search of a thrill and put a lot of people at risk when they get themselves in a situation and need help.

As you can see, they don't skimp when it comes to outfitting their rescue vehicles. I've seen these trucks but this photo is someone else's.
