Ford New Holland parts site problems

A year or so ago it was possible to easily find a diagram of a Ford or New Holland tractor and locate a part number.
Now this official site is impossible to use. Has anyone else had problems with this.

What happened?

They changed the site for whatever reason. I use Messicks site, they still have the diagrams and look up like the old New Holland site.

It works just fine for me, and they've restored some of the nla part numbers that were previously deleted.

Click on the "Search Type" tab and select "model".

I just returned from a site visit and have learned how to use it. It was not as intuitive as the older site and not as forgiving when guessing whatever semantic order is used to find a particular tractor.

Sorry for my almost rant. I have seen too many sites where they had a great intuitive system logically arranged. Then someone gets the idea they had would improve it. 99% of the time it ends up being a disaster.

Ebay did this several years ago and it did not work well at all. I wrote them four and five times telling them this. Apparently so did a lot of other people. It took over two years, but they finally restored the older search system or at least something close to it. It does not make sense to me why they do this or why it takes so long for these companies to correct an obvious fubar. It frustrates customers and costs a lot of people's time especially if the new system takes a lot longer than the older one to use.

It may just be my old brain but it seems like the internet is getting more and more useless. Type something in the
search bar and what you are looking for is way down the line if even there. and not even close to what you are
hunting. Okay folks, that's my rant for the day. TDF

Like MJMJ, I prefer to use the Messicks site. Super Easy. Messicks main store is about 175 miles away from me. In appreciation of
their good website, I will buy parts from them if not super urgent and I can afford the 2 or 3 day in-transit.

A long time ago they had a company create and maintain a good setup.

In a cost cutting move they thought they could do it themselves cheaper. They seem to screw it up and try a different approach every 2 years, screwing it up more each
time. They got so much hate mail from this last new and improved from their own dealers that they worked on bringing some of it back a little.

But the bean counters and the suits at the conference desk just are out of touch with what people actually want and need, so it never gets better, just changed to the
latest corporate whim that has no connection to reality.

Same here in the UK. I dont do much with Fords so dont need to access the CNH parts store very often. It has certainly got more difficult to find what I want.

I can usually get it to work, but I have to poke around a bit. It seems to be worse when my internet bandwidth is throttled, which is most of the time. The problem I have is getting it to take the 'Model Name' search option. If you poke around on the search page, you'll eventually get a page that has a search field that says 'Type' at the left hand side. Click on the Type pull down and select 'Model'. Then you'll be able to enter your tractors model number and everything works pretty much as before.

One thing that's broken is the 'Part Name' and 'Description' fields are truncated in the parts list. The description isn't displayed at all when you click on the part number to get the details. That field used to have a lot of useful information.

As a former manager of web applications for an enterprise I can tell you that one man's fubar is another man's "Just what I wanted to see!' moment.

As to the time to change the sites, web applications are not as simple as fixing old tractors and sometimes it takes a lot of ingenuity and creativity to make it work.

Also, most things are currently designed for use by those in their 40s and under, who grew up with complex systems and are not intimidated. If you do not let a site intimidate or frustrate you it will go better.

I have a severe learning disability so too much change can be unsettling and very distracting so this is my following historical and observational creed:

"Old, not obsolete" and "if it works don't fix it" ------but------

Now days its "not backwards compatible" You must update to the new version : translation "more money" and "warning, steep learning curve ahead"

Some of us old dogs were never good at learning new tricks.

It is just like the phone system at most businesses.

Any decent manager calls his own company a few times every year to see how customers are treated (little company managers must disguize
their number and voice).

Same with websites...most managers never try to navigate their own system. It can cost them a lot of money and sales to turn customers off.
Good mangers fix it, but some are just too lazy to try.

I wish the Managers at Kroger would try to open their own food packaging.
