The caption post below got me to thinking. I remember hearing a JD 8430 With full set of duals will float. Can that be right?
 
I don't know, but I'd about swear that I saw a picture of a Case 1200 floating one time. I remember when I told Dad, he told me to find the picture and prove it. I never did find it.
 
Some years back when 3 wheelers were popular. a friend broke through thin ice. The machine floated but upside down.
 
I will tell you they will sink fast in wet sand. Tried it Friday evening and got lucky that I made it out.
 
What is the Ford 4 wheel drive from England?? County?? Many years ago there was a picture of one of those with big tires driving across a large body of water.
 
I'm doubtful of the claim, look at the amount of weight added by loading tires, it's not even close to the weight of the machine. So that's roughly the liquid displacement of the tires right there
 
It would take a lot larger than standard tires to make it do it. Put big enough tires to displace the weight anything will float how much does a aircraft carrier weigjh ?

Tractor floating

County Sea Horse based on a Fordson Super Major with County 4WD. Tractor was driven across the English Channel from France to England. It had floatation tanks front and rear as well as tanks built into the wheel. Tractor was put to work ploughing within a short while after leaving the water.
 
I suppose if the tires are filled with helium or some lighter than atmosphere gas it would help with big enough tires. More than just putting duals on it. Still not convinced it will float with close to standard tire s on it though.
 
that will not make it float tires are full of air and it will not make any difference what is in the tires or how much pressure
