NorTrac 30 Hp Diesel Dozer - Northern Tool

I have a 580C Case backhoe/loader in good shape. Have been thinking about selling and converting funds into purchase of a small dozer. Two questions: (l) What's a good estimate on the value of the 580C? Has 12" and 24" buckets. Forward/reverse shuttle. Hydraulics work great (one cylinder on loader tilt leaks a little), front and rear rubber 75%, pins are "good". Engine is solid - no oil use - no leaks - starts easy - no smoke after warm up or under load - rear end/transmission good - paint better than fair - loader bucket in good condition (not bent or distorted) - new battery (needs alternator work) - new brake components (but brakes barely work).
(2) Anyone have any experience with the NorTrac 30HP diesel dozer sold by Northern Tool? Has 3 cylinder diesel engine, 540/1000 RPM PTO, 64 1/2" wide by 26" high six-way dozer blade (20" lift and down dig 8"), 1.3 gallon per hour fuel consumption, 10ft. by 10 inch steel tracks, ROPS, 8/2 speed manual transmission, and six months limited parts and labor warranty. Free shipping. Fully assembled. $15,000. What do you guys think? I'm in central Oklahoma. Thanks. bob farrell

I think those are built by Jinma and labeled Nortrack for Northern Tool. Size wise, might consider a dozer blade on a utility tractor or or a skid steer with tracks. Seen a few lately in that price range. They have had a few minor trobles from what I read elsewhere. Cant find the link right off, might google it.

I would say you could find an older international of JD in a small
size that will actually have a resale value when you are done with it.

I think those dozers are made in china. So you will get the typical china quality, no resale value and in a few years you will most likely not be able to find parts. Buy a larger used skidsteer and put a set of tracks on it. It will do more work and have resale value and you will be able to get parts.

For a little less money, you can get a good 40 HP Mitsubishi or Komatsu, and have a lot better unit. And one of the biggest dealers of the used units is in Noble, OK. Call Joel at 1-405-550-1818. Tell him the guy he beat out on Ebay on the Misubishi in Seattle referred you.

Friend had Nortrac. Enough went wrong from the start Company sent another machine. He traded for a CAT BEFORE ANYTHING ELSE WENT WRONG.

Fellow down the street here has one. Not a Nortrac but the exact same Chinese one. Worked it for one month and now it is sitting for almost 2 years as he cannot get parts for it.

Might be worth going scrap price now.

(quoted from post at 09:02:49 01/17/08) Thanks for all the comments. Think I'll pass and keep looking for a "brand name" used one. Thanks ! Bob Farrell

Hay Bob, I picked one of these up for about 9k it only has 49 hours on it and so far it has been a reasonably good machine. sounds like other peoples experience isn't as good. You still in the oil and gas business? Pretty sure I'm blacklisted now... Billy wont even return my calls... Hope life is treating you good.
