Seeking Smooth Mechanic for IH 460 Minnesota

Hi All,

My IH 460 is having multiple issues that I just don't want to get in and tackle myself... Hydraulic pump shot, TA shot, valves need adjusting and wheel seals leak.

Does anyone know of a competent mechanic that works on old red in Minnesota? If I have to drive a bit for the right guy it wouldn't be the end of the world.

Thanks!

(quoted from post at 19:10:17 05/13/21) We have a good local IH mech, where are you at?

Minneapolis metro area.

But like I said... Willing to drive for the right mechanic. South metro to be more specific.

I am nearby or at least in the NW metro. I will tell you right
out that I have plenty of irons in the fire. Do you have a
place to work on it? I am willing to coach you through if you
want to or have a place to work on it yourself. What kind of
time frame are you looking at? View in Classic and send
me an email, probably be easier to talk by phone. BTW, I
do not consider myself at least in terms of any adjectives of
description as ..smooth.. I would go more down the road of
..straight forward!

Im north west of St. Cloud about 35 miles. Work on a lot of
older stuff and some new. Im about a month and a half out on
projects. Not to scare you but what you need done might
exceed the value of the tractor. Fixed a few like that and sent
a few to the parts yard. Not sure you want to travel that far but
you sure can give me a call if interested. 320/333/9980

Thanks for the replies guys...

As far as the value of the tractor it's overall in pretty great shape considering its age. I'm not hell bent on fixing the TA as I don't really use it for any sort of heavy pulling. It's mostly an auger tractor.

I do think it will need a new hydraulic pump or the hydraulic pump rebuilt or a good used pull which I'm bracing myself for.

I had a guy slam in wheel seals TWICE and they still leak.

I don't think the tractor is a lost cause. I fully overhauled the engine, had the gas tank rubber lined, radiator refinished, converted the machine to alternator with new starter, newer rubber and had it painted so it doesn't look too shabby.

There are just these little nuisance items that should be looked at...
