This was built by my uncle about 40 years ago. This year I
fiberglassed the bottom and added a spray rail. The third
winter of restoration and I hope to be work free for a couple
years of use.

I have the same photo of me somewhere. From when I stripped the old paint and rust from the bottom of my trailer.

nice job. front and rear drive boat! is that blue thing on the tractor to help it float? lol.

Doesn't Gibby have a wood boat in his basement?
Ever wonder how he plans to get it out?
In Florida there must be a wood boat club. There are Some nice looking wood boats.

Can't answer your question but I sure did enjoy crab fishing in Va. back when I was stationed at Damneck naval base in Va. which is close to Va. Beach Va.

475window......both you and your window are talented when it comes to boat works. Uhmmmm. I can just smell those crabs and clams boiling now! Very good job. Wingnut

You mean Leroy Jethro Gibbs? I imagine it's a tuck under garage, but we don't get to see that on set. Recently he's been working on the engine, looks like a straight 6. It was upside down, he was torqueing the rod caps last week. the boat is nearly done, I wonder if he will ever finish it? Lots of time now that he got fired!

Wingnut ...... I can smell the fibreglass resin ..... ugh! I spent a month up north in '65 laying mat inside tanks, and then in the early 70's glassing a basement shower (which I have since ripped out). The shower project worked good but I dyed the resin robin's egg blue and got very tired of it. Replaced everything with concrete board and tile.

The boat is designed to run a trout line. This is a 500 foot plus long line with baits every 6 feet. The line is brought in over a roller where the crabs are netted. That is why the keel is so pronounced, so it will stay straight along the run. Chicken necks are a common bait.

Back when we caught them I was stationed at Damneck Va naval base. Right on the edge of Va. Beach was a big pile of rocks in the inlet and we would go out on that pile of rocks and tie chicken necks to a string and wait a while. Then slowly pull them up and another person would stand ready with a long handle net to catch any crabs that didn't let go. Worked pretty good as long as we did it at low tide. If you where on the pile of rocks as high tide hit you where in trouble since the water came up so you had to try to swim off the pile of rocks
