The voltage connector to the compressor was not making contact. I had to cut some short strands of copper wire and place inside of the connector to shim it tight. It now works great! In the regular mode the compressor stays on all the time. In the economy mode, the compressor cycles on and off. I damaged the plastic hose end gasket, on the gauge set, when I was checking the pressure because the compressor is at the bottom of the engine and very difficult to reach. Can that gasket be changed or do I have to buy a whole new gauge set with new hoses? Thanks to everyone that gave me advice. It helped a lot! Do they make an adapter to fit my hoses on the high pressure side fitting? I wanted to see how much the pressure is when the compressor is running. My hose won't fit that port.

Most autosupply houses have loaner gauge sets that should fit. You may have to pay a retainer to make sure you return it.

I keep replacements gaskets for the gauges/hoses and most auto supply stores should have them available. R-134a fittings are all the same but R-12 have a few different sizes, mainly just for high side.

Thanks for that link! They won't sell me
parts anymore at the air conditioner store
in Denver unless you have a license.
