Bearing failure repairs with out manuals are sometimes a joyful and educational experience. So take many photos of the project because they do turn
into whats thought to be a day to months long project, really ?
Not knowing your tool box inventory, your going need heavy duty sockets
Hydraulic jacks and jack stands with suitable bases to support the weight of that tractor .
You have to accept that you will have to check out the other side ,one side went the other is not far behind possibility.
This the Plough furrow front wheel ?
Use engine crane to hold front wheel when removing so it doesnt flop on you ! Need a helper to stabilize ,or someone to observe for safety .
Going to advise to install all nuts and bolts into holes of parts removed for easy cleaning and reassembled. Use welders paint pen to clocked properly
orient hud removal s .
Going to need accessibility to micrometer s or verniers to measurements of seals and inner and outer bearing s after removal with suitable bearing
pullers,
Inmost cases the bearings are preloaded so count the number of turns after marking the nut with paint maker and recording those numbers and partial
turn numbers immediately. For reassembly.
You will have to inspect bearing casting housing for wear . And repair according to housing bearing tolerance or the job will be a wasted effort if
ignored.
Most taper and radial thrust bearing and all bearings uasally have identified numbers on them ,for replacement cross reference ,how ever these
numbers do get worn away and the need of proper measurements have to be taken to find the replacements .usally the bearing houses have access to
cross reference.to Bearings and seals.
You may have to make gaskets so save old gaskets to be copied for replacement .
Dont get discouraged cause the repairs us all take in way more than originally thought ,take your time and always ask for help . Good luck , hopefully
you find a manual but in some cases the manual s assume you are their certified mechanic.

The front axle on that tractor was a County design and based on Ford 3000 parts. It is
many years since production ceased and County itself has gone through liquidation and a
number of different owners.

If you strip the axle out you may be able to get part numbers from the bearings and
match them with a local bearing and seal supplier. Other than that there are a number
of companies here in England that still have a stock of County spares.

The bearings can be bought from any bearing supply place?

Have you checked with your local New Holland dealer? It's surprising what all parts they can get
for them.

My dad owns an 1164 Ford County. We rebuilt one front punkin about a year ago on his.
