Timing is everything

Been wanting a box blade, 7 or 8 ft.

Went to a local consignment sale this morning mostly just to hang out with friends. By the time I got there, the sale was running.

Got my number, walked out to where they were selling, saw one of my friends, talked to him less than a minute, he told me there was a box blade over where the crowd was.

Walked over, they started selling it just as I got there. I was looking it over as I was bidding. Less than a minute later, I had a 7ft box blade at a decent price. My friends were joking I started bidding before my inner tightwad had a chance to react.

It's in decent shape, missing 3 shanks. But I know a guy that has some.

Timing is everything.

When I tell someone I bought something for a DECENT price, I either got it so cheap I should be in jail or I paid so much I'm embarrassed to admit it.

Good price depends a lot on location, condition and demand.
I didn't use mine much anymore, so I sold them.
I listed the pictured 5 ft for $500 and it sold the same day.
Saved him $300 off the price of new.

I had an 8 ft that had no paint on it at all. Rust colored, but solid.
No ripper teeth in it at all. Most of the hobby guys around here
can't pull and 8 ft when it's full so they don't want one that big.

I was talking to a farmer friend of mine and told him I'd probably
sell it for $100. He said he'd take it. A few months later, when
the weather warmed up a bit, he brought his own tractor down,
picked it up and took it home.

I usually buy brand new implements at my local Kubota dealership than most of the same products on SETX Craiglist. That's even if you talk them
down a bit. It's ridiculous. I not sure what some of these folks are smoking. Wingnut

Ok, so I paid $525 for this blade. Needs at least 2 shanks, third one is bent.

New seems to go for $1100ish if you can find one.

I'd quit bidding on a 7ft with no shanks at $600 a couple weeks ago, and at $900 on a like new 8ft with all it's shanks 4 weeks ago.

But the 8ft did not have any kind of brand name, and appeared to be lighter built (steel not as thick).

Think I did OK.

Now if I could just find a decent used 6ft 3-point tiller....Can't find a new one of those on the lots either.
