Susan and I are getting a 'new' home. Our old mobile is shot. It is falling down around us. It has black mold and other issues. My sister says it is no longer liveable. She my be right. My sister, our son,and Susan's sister have conspired to get us a newer/better home. However,I figured we didny have a 'snowball's chance' of ever getting one.My sister has found us a good used, newer home locally. She set up a 'GoFundMe' account. The responce has been overwhelming. There have been a number of people step up to help volunteer with the switch, light remodeling, etc.I am overwhelmed. In shock. Thankful. My sister said I should post here. Some may want to help. The 'link' is : gf.me/u/zqhqkq Thank you for reading.Steve and Susan.

Wishing you the best in the new digs. The effort I have seen you and Susan make helping neighbors and being real people in a real community, is a blessing being returned. Jim & Prescott

Sometimes the best asset in terms of people are not those rolling in cash but those who show a willingness to help others.

Hmmm, so a person decides to make a purchase and then simply goes out into the community and asks for financial help (cash or in kind) to get over the hump? Interesting times we live in, good luck !!

But we are free to choose one way or another as to if we want to help. We also do not know the circumstances as to how things got to where they are and I don't that an explanation is required. I've known of a few farmers that wound up in dire straights due to crushing medical bills.

The link needs to be user friendly, at least for me. Some of you that have been here a few years, may remember when Allan's house burned down. Some helped him with a donation. I wonder what happened to him? Stan

I think this is it.

Home for Steve

Susan has Diabetes. And insulin is very expensive in the USA, and my assumption is extra health care cost have taken a toll on these folks financially. I think this is a genuine need, and shouldnt be made light of.

Yeah.

When you are just getting by in life a medical issue can have long term repercussions. It's just not possible to get out of a hole in a matter of a couple of years.

I have followed Steve's posts for many years. Many of you newer guys may have missed where he was off for 6 months or so due to a 'puter problem, and when he got on again he had to change his handle. He has een on more like twenty years than one year. Steve is a real deal consummate YTer. He rarely posts off topic, he is always positive and encouraging, he most frequently posts about what he is working on and his irrigated farm. He doesn't espouse political doctrine from either end of the spectrum. A very few times he has posted something that has had me concerned for his long term financial welfare, but has never been looking for help before this, And remember that according to the OP of this thread this was not his doing. I hope this can ease the concerns of the skeptics.

That's fine. Clarity is important though.

It is a quality that doesn't make an appearance all that often here.

Good luck Steve and Susan. I've got plenty of things going but managed to pitch in a little. Problem with diabetes is not so much the insulin cost but the other things it does. It starts eating away at body parts and then finally the organs such as the liver. Known a few people that start with stepping on a pin or something and foot gets infected. Blood doesn't circulate right and they lose a foot, then it takes the lower leg, then the upper. Same for the other leg. It gets into the organs, affects your eyes, and then the liver, heart, etc. get so bad they can't do surgery on you for other stuff that most people would survive.

My eldest daughter who turned 51 at the 1st of this year was informed by her newly acquired Dr a few months ago that she has diabetes. She was possibly undiagnosed by her former Dr for several yrs The glucose monitor & insulin pump that she has attached to her body is not very cheap even after financial assistance from her health insurance.
