rental rate for skidsteer

I have a hay customer that raises sheep. It is time to clean out the barn from the winter manure pack. I have a spare New Holland L325 skidsteer and manure bucket that she wants to use. What is a fair hourly rate to charge?

I might have read it wrong...nobody uses my equipment, I may, and I say may, allow some use under my guidance.

I charge per hour when I use my equipment. No one else.

That may seem harsh, but I know hat I have done and did.

Local guy that Loren did work for charged $350 a day, you pick it up a 7am Monday, you bring it back 7am Tuesday full of fuel, and clean the mud off it, another place is $270 for 24hr, same fuel ect apply.
 
Unless you are sure this person is a fairly good skilled operator and willing to be responsible for any damage to your machine ,I would suggest hiring it out operator included(you) and charge a fair rate for machine and operator. A good operator may be able to do twice the work in an hour compared to someone learning as they go so that is something to consider. Often I see machines like that rented by the day ,week or more.
 
As said I'd go with the equipment as an operator,around my area a person with a skid loader can be hired at about the same price as just a skid loader from a rental place.
 


Bill, I know that you are an intelligent adult and that you know what your own situation is and that you know your customer, so I won't lecture you. In my area we have some independent rental stores that have rates up on their websites.
 
A rental store has the correct insurance which, to me, is more important than any minor damage to the machine. They are also able to give the correct insurance-approved safety and operational speech and/or literature to go with the machine. It is safer and generally more cost effective for your neighbor to rent from the rental store.
