LED yellow flasher lights

I want to add a yellow flashing light on both fenders of my Oliver 1550. My wife used to work at Napa and I can get them there with her discount, will I have issues with flasher unit to make them work, or what will I need? Thanks

Some LED's have a built in resistor to make the flasher think it is a standard incandescent light.

Or you can get a flasher that is not load dependent.

Either will work.

Older bi metal heat activated flashers that relied upon x minimum amps of current to operate may not work on some LED fixtures if they don't draw enough current, HOWEVER a modern electronic controlled flasher may well work fine.

I added a n incontinence fixture under my dash and painted it black, this was enough to make them flash,,and cheaper too.

It seems like you see those LEDS on everything these days.

You know, right there is my problem with electrical things; trying to trick the stupid electrical thing to work. We can put a man on the moon, why can't we insert some electrical thing in circuits to let the rest of the system know what it's supposed to do?

They already make an LED light that has the flash in it. I use them on the back of my trailers for pulling oversize loads. Just had to put them in in place of a couple of the other lights and plug in. Worked great and fiin the same grommet as the tail lights did. there are some that you can get a stobe deal then switch them from steady light to strobe as desired.

John, older 2 prong bimetal flashers are load dependent. Add bulbs such as a trailer to vehicle and they blink faster. They make/ made a 3 prong flasher that had a seperate heater with the 3rd prong being a ground, these are a steady rate flasher suitable for increased load such as a trailer. I'm not real familiar with new electronic flashers but think they are not load dependent. Leroy

Hi Leroy, thats my thinking also, those old bi metal heat activated flashers flashed at different speeds subject to the load current but I think the elec flash strictly on time regardless.

Sure would be fun to visit again sometime, maybe next Jan/Feb in Florida ??

THey make an electronic flasher that does away with the old style that works with Leds. They flash the same rate weather 1 or 20 lights.

Get an electronic flasher that will flash at the same rate no matter what the load is on it. Grote #44891 is a GOOD example of such a unit.

Even those flashers need a very small "load" to begin flashing, and not all LED's draw enough for that.

If the lights still won't flash connect a 15 Ohm 10 Watt resistor between the output of the flasher (that goes to the lights) and chassis ground.
