I had a bight idea

And it resulted in a pretty good idea. I replaced some steel lines that has been brazed and were in all around rough condition. The parts guys always make them about 3 inches to long to compensate for the curves in the steel line and that makes em hard to instal and not fit right and look sloppy. I got thinking what if I pounded the line flat before I took it in to boy wonder? Sure enough worked like a charm and he was within a 1/4 inch on length on two different lines

The parts guy trys that and hes always 3 inches to long maybe you could come show him how because nobody o know can figure it out

yes i know many people are not perfectionists, just make it and get it done. at work it was just part of the job re-hosing the units on rebuilds.my hoses were made to fit. many times one end is crimped leave the other coupler not crimped them fitting each hose to the correct length. always left a hair long then once installed remarked and recut end then crimp it. done. yes it takes longer but the neat outcome is worth it. sure i would show him. how many time i have taken a hose to be made someplace and they cant even get it right with the old hose in hand. its like let me do that!

It drives me nuts I hate a hose thats too long they look terrible not mention they dont last because you cant route em right . Ive got one right now that I need to take off and I think just cut the end off and have him crimp a new one on will make it ok

A seamstress tape would work good to measure tubing, hoses and belts I think. I need to get one. When I was in the air force, they always brought all the hydraulic lines to me to make.

Reminds me of a time I needed a stepped ujoint measured it all both cross widths both cap diameters went to local crapa auto parts cuz I knew hed have it if he could find it . I cant do it off the measurements I said I measured it here they are oh well I cant do it that way I said why heres the measurements every one off em measured with a dial caliper so the numbers match what yer little book says oh well slam bang growl groan Moan about 2 hours later I had my ujoint he had it on the shelf
