power steering

Hi folks
I have a MF302 (industrial diesel)..the power steering is weak turning right and I can hear the pump stuggling turning left..
Ive had the spool valve out and apart already..(it seems to have a spring loaded area it floats back and forth in)
I thought I honed it somewhat.(its stickey to get the spool out completely..)
and yet the problem continues..We all hate taking things apart with out advice ahead of time
I gotta figure this one out...any input would be appreciated (hand pump, spool valve etc)

Have you jacked it up and looked the steering over, felt it turn not running?

Possibly a mechanical binding. If the pump is loading heavily that means the valve is shifting and doing it's job.

Is this a self contained steering gear or external assist cylinder? If external cylinder, possibly a damaged/failing cylinder.

Try several turns with the steering wheel and if one cylinder is warmer than the other, you may be assured that this warmer cylinder has some internal leakage. I had three MF forklifts and this was a common problem. The cylinders were not rebuildable
