My John Deere 2040 has 14.9x28 tires on it. Tractor data says it should have 13.6x28. Im gonna have to put rims and tires on it so Id like to do it as cheaply as possible. Will going to 13.6s hurt anything.

The smaller tires will not hurt but your able to put those tires on the same rims. I would just put the 14's back on there will be less traction and if loaded for a loader less weight to hold the rear down.

Take that size with a grain of salt. That is most likely what the tractor left the factory with.Doesnt mean it has to stay that size. Many tractors have had differint/larger tires installed.Mine included.Ususally larger that 'stock'. Absolutely wont hurt a thing.Go back with the 14.9s and forget it.
