1940 Ford 9n front spindle length.

My 1940 Ford 9n needs a left front spindle because the threads have been stripped and the cotter pin is the only thing holding the wheel on. I've read somewhere, and my measurements seem to confirm this, that the earlier models such as mine have an 11 1/4 inch spindle shaft length. The only replacements I can find are 11 inch. Has anybody else run into this problem and what possible solutions are there?? TY.

Does it have a key way at the top? Im not sure about the length, but I know the early ones do not have a keyway either.

Used to be able to purchase a clamp lock nut like this . Link shows a Farmall nut but Ford looked about the same.
I did find the Ford nut at a different site, Search for Clamp lock nut if it looks interesting. .

Find a good used one-everyone should have a few spare tractors in their fence-row!

Which style do you have? You should have the pinch-bolt style in a '40, but the later (>1943) and better keyed style were commonly retro-fitted to earlier tractors.
