706 Position Control Knob

I need a position control knob for the 706 I recently bought. Im tired of raking my hand on that bare metal end. I can find the 382801r1 one which is apparently the standard one.

I swear Ive seen one like it though that is just longer, maybe 2-1/2" or so. Ive seen it on others in the past. Thats what I would like as long as Im buying one but cant find it anywhere. Am I hallucinating again? :?

Tim,you should have access to something in your hardware store. Any knob with threads that match the bolt will work.I may call you with some suggestions. Good luck. Are you plowing
yet? ;)

This knob is not threaded though. Its hard rubber and It just has a slot in it that slips over the flat end of the lever.
I could weld a threaded rod onto it and change it to something else but like to keep things fairly original.
I just swear Ive seen Farmalls with longer rubber knobs on them than what Im finding. Maybe Im nuts!

Drill a hole in a golfball and secure with liquid nail.Golf balls make great knobs for gear shifts, hydralic levers,others..... I have several in use here. They last forever.

Yeah Steve, I started plowing finally. Unfortunately it was raining lightly all weekend which made it kind of miserable. The plow was working really well though after getting everything dialed in. It was coming out really nice and even. I had to add more weight to the front to keep it down when heading uphill. Still some wet spots in the field to work around. All my snow just finally melted last week. They are saying its pretty dry even here but personally, Im not seeing it in my field.
Initially for about the first 6 passes the hitch was responding really slowly taking 20 seconds or more to raise or lower. I had to stop at each end to allow it to move. Then suddenly it started to work fine and has ever since. I just bought the 706 last fall and this is the first I have used the fasthitch. I rebuilt the PTO and drained & flushed all the hydraulic fluid due to water contamination. The old filter was disintegrating from the water. Maybe some orifice was clogged somewhere and broke free.

Good to hear it's working. I may have an original knob from an 806.I will have to look. I will mail it to you if you want. Or I could drill a golf ball and send it...Stiener tractor parts sells repro knobs.

Let me try to clarify what I am looking for with some pics. First is a picture of my actual lever with missing knob

Next is the knob I find online that will work and probably what I will end up getting. Notice how stubby it is.

Lastly is a page copy right from my Farmall 706 owners manual showing the style knob I would ideally like. Notice it is much longer than the above one.

The handles are not threaded. Is this handle not available anymore or what am I missing. I could make something up that would be longer but didnt want to reinvent the wheel as it appears it existed at one point.

Fiat probably subbed the part your looking for out of existence
you might get lucky and find a used one but it might be Rotten
