John Deere 7000 4 row corn planter drive wheel advice.

I just bought a really nice JD 7000 at an auction all no-till and liquid fertilizer 30 inch rows. I started pulling it home and did the usual check at about 1 mile down the road feeling the tires and hubs To make sure there not warm and the drive hub bearing is fried, and looking at it, I can see it was already fried when I bought it. So I found a church parking lot down the road and parked it. Plan is to just cut the shaft for quick removal and buy a rebuilt hub and new shaft, so I can pull it the rest of the way home. The shaft isnt expensive. Any advice before I go wrenching. Anybody replaced a drive hub before on a 7000?

What is there to cut? I think its just two big bolts, everything drops out? Ive had mine off a few times for a flat or a busted drive sprocket.

Maybe I dont understand the question.

Just loose up the idlers on drive chains and drop them off the wheel cogs. No cutting needed. Even if you have to take the chain apart, there should be a master link somewhere in the chain, it's better/simpler than messing with the shaft til you get home and go over it to use. I use to drop those chains off just moving farm to farm down the road. Paul
