Grader blade extensions?

Does anyone know if LandPride makes extensions for their grader blades? I have a 6 footer in really nice condition but would like an 8 foot that still covers my wheel width when angled. I had a Ford blade at one time that had extensions on it but I think they were home made as you can see in the pic. Just curious if LandPride makes them or if it's something that has to be fabricated?

Some might make them, but companies know that the extensions will be used in the same way a 2 foot wider blade would be used. and that requires a
dramatic increase in structure at the pivot, locking pin and hitch. Instant warranty claim or dissatisfied customer when the unit fails. Jim

that is a great idea. However you need
to beware of the additional stresses the
extra width will put on the Mainframe of
the machine. If you don't push too awful
hard it should be just fine.

You won't be able to swing the blade 360 degrees, which makes it useless for snow removal, IMO. And I wouldn't try moving dirt with moldboard extensions.

It looks like that entire blade was fabricated, using a six footer to start with. So it probably can swing 360 because it was built that way, with an extended mount so the blade can clear the tires.

Looks to me like your blade already has extensions. Seems to me that a longer blade at an angle (45 for instance) would be of similar width as your blade is now at a 90 degree angle and would be moving about the same width of snow/dirt. I'd think that there would be less stress than your blade at a 90 because the snow/dirt will be sliding off instead of being carried along.

I have a ford blade that has a similar mount that is very heavy. Finally got it unfrozen and apart.

My cheap little blade, for which I traded some hay, has a sticker that gives a horsepower limit and states use on a larger tractor will void the warrantee.

jm,
I got 8+inches of snow. Used the front bucket to remove the top 4 inches, angled the back blade to put the rest of the snow to the side of the road. Can't angle blade with extensions. Some places I had front and rear wheels spinning. I was nice and warm listing to the radio.

That is the same mount as mine but mine is a Ford, not Landpride unless Landpride made them for Ford. Should be a plaque on the middle of the cross member where the two bottom 3 point pins. It will tilt and rotate 360. Wanted the tilt to cut some ditches. Tom, you would have to unhook it, rotate the 3 point mount 180, drive around and rehook to the 3 point to back blade. I wouldn't be afraid to add extensions. Even if it had a warranty, 10,000 lawyers couldn't help you collect a penny as you would likely be long past any warranty period.

I believe the pics he posted are the the Ford blade with extensions that he USED to own, just shown to illustrate what he's referring to.

Those extensions (on your old blade) look strong enough to move loose snow if you don't hit anything solid. I would not use them for dirt work. Have you looked into trading up to a wider blade or getting a second blade for snow removal?

Yes 8 inches. First time I pushed snow in many years.
Blizzard of 1978 was our record SNOW.
