Yesterday farmers were very busy planting yesterday. When is the earliest you can plant and get crop insurance?

We are already past our last optimal planting date.

I was thinking the 15th too.
Many are taking a chance.
Many that planted yesterday put down Anhydrous Ammonia where last year was corn.
Most of the time the farmers would rotate to beans. Just wondering if nitrogen was need if they planted beans? Just have to wait an see what comes up.

Crop insurance dates vary by state & by crop. Here in Ohio, the northern part of the state has different dates than the southern half. I do not know if it varies by insurer.

Thinking APR 1 in far southwest IND, APR 5 from Tipton Co to Jackson Co (central IN), APR 10 for counties north of Tipton (northern IND) I bet Corn Belt will have huge acres of corn in the ground by end of week. I hear Missouri already has a lot planted.

So a lot of farmers are planting corn where they had corn last year. Is corn more profitable vs beans?

April 11th here for corn, which is stupidly early.

It is on the drier side for a change and warm for the moment, small grains and fertilizer going on. Was supposed to rain last night and for the next 4 days, we have been missed so far. They currently predict rain in 3 hours.

I am in Jackson and I thought it was the 15th. With free seed replant I don't worry to much about it. My neighbor was planting beans today.

crop insurance doesn't care when you plant but must wait for there date to qualify for replant!

I live along the Interstate 80 corridor and so far mostly just soybeans have been planted but not me as of yet would not mind trying a small field to see what happens

Middle of March here for getting a good crop of corn before it gets too hot for pollination and have enough moisture to fill out the corn.
Son has corn up in several fields around here.
It might get bit, but always comes back.
I have seen several years that 18-20 degrees turns it yellow but it comes back.

Me too although I have a friend at the ascs . Tried getting a loan there once and the amount of crap to go through to get a loan is ridiculous
