Updates Coming next weekend

We have made one major upgrade this last weekend and hope to do the next this coming weekend. This will impact some people depending on what ISP you use to access the internet. I put some information concerning the upgrade in Site Comments and suggest you take a look. I'll be updating that thread until the upgrade is complete. Bottom line is that we'll have a short outage late Friday night, and then some people may have trouble posting come next Saturday. The latter has to do with our address changing and how some routers/modems work that people use to connect to the net.

Please direct any questions to the Site Comments thread.

Hummmmmmm, i may be in trouble then , i may be great at fixen I H tractors but dumber then a box of cardboard rocks when it comes to computer . And the KID's are all gone to FIX any Computer problems .

Thanks. Sound like you are moving the server over to All States. Or maybe they bot you a new one. Which begs the question, what kind of cpu chip are you running and how many tig of storage does this site take? I assume you are running in linux.

Not exactly, we are moving it to a site directly on major trunks of the internet right alongside the some of the largest sites in the world (Tukwila and Redmond). Still relatively local for us but lacking all the latency. Yes it is an All-States project to make the site better, faster and more reliable, and so far, it's not just better, it's worlds better. The performance of photos.yesterdaystractors.com (which I moved this weekend), is astonishing. They were serious about the importance of these forums and supporting them well. I'm very happy with how this is going.

Still running same servers, multiprocessor Xeons and each site lives within 1 TB and YT has 10 sites involved including mirrors. And we've always run some sort of Unix like OS, Kim and I wouldn't have anything else, and nowadays, Linux is really the only game in town for a high performance site. But so far, it seems that our sluggishness was not the servers as much as it was being throttled by the network performance. The big payoff will come when I get the forums moved too though already, just pulling tractorshed off this local network has sped up the forums too.

Do reply in Site Comments, I don't check this forum as much.

Good Morning and thank you for all of your efforts to maintain this site. This is by far my favorite site on the internet.

I'm not sure how to access the Site Comments Thread. I probably wouldn't understand of word of what's in there, but it would be fun to look at it
anyway.

(quoted from post at 12:18:51 04/06/21) It's nothing like that. See the site comments thread.

Too funny, even YTSupport makes a post that is a reply to someones comment and we can't tell to whom the reply is directed at.

:D

For those not visiting other sections of this forum, it sounds pretty simple.

If you cant access certain parts of this forum next week, unplug your modem and router from the wall socket, get a cup of coffee or can from the fridge (wait 60 seconds for the electronics to discharge themselves), plug them back in, and everything should reset itself on its own.

If it doesnt, then Kim and their staff are likely working overtime to fix some unexpected issue on their side! :)

WAYNE TEXAS,

No, not the same.

Site Comments is a 'discussion forum' under rhe Topics Column. Just go to the main page and click the Forums button... then scroll waaayyyy down the page, past Tractor Talk, Tales, the Brand specific forums, and others... then you will find the forum for Site Comments, Memorials and Rembrance, Classic Trucks, etc.

The Feedback Form is a 'form' you can can click to send a note/letter to the website.

Forgot to say the the Feedback Form is on the far left side of the screen under Miscellaneous heading... it is NOT is the list of forums.

Per our internet helpdesk guy... after unplugging both your modem and your wifi router - he said to plug in the modem first and give it 10-20 seconds to reset, then plug in your wife router after that.

I don't think there is any fixin my Wife router 😀. She is 'self routed' despite my best attempts LOL. Sorry, couldn't resist.

Yeah Carl. With the stuff my wife looks at, I think she should have her own modem and router. She did find something interesting on the net yesterday on google books. She has an uncle that was a gunner on a B29 bomber that was went down on a bombing run going to Japan in WWII. She found a book there that had the reports from submarines doing life guard duty and their rescues. On Apr 27, 1945 the sub USS Gato reported on station. Report came in of a B29 down 56 miles away. Spotted other B-29's circling over the area. Spotted her uncle Gene after he had been in the water for 3 hours. Picked him up and some others as well. Not all the crew members were found however. Gene was one of the lucky ones.

That IS hilarious! I was hoping as long as All-States was updating things that they would tell them to get rid of this dual format crap and come up with a forum that actually works!
