When the NAA first was running, the starter switch worked fine. Earlier this year, it stopped working. I did some checking and everything was getting power. So replaced the switch and still it isnt starting the tractor. Removing the wire from the switch and holding it on the positive terminal does crank the tractor (transmission in neutral of course). Wiring looks good, did see an orange wire unhooked but otherwise all is good. Any suggestions?

To be honest ,
My first thought was American Aeronautical Association .

I think you have the wrong solenoid.

The starter switch makes a ground connection. You need a solenoid with an external ground. The one you have grounds through the base.

The type you need is called a ground activated solenoid.
Ground Activared Solenoid

Is it still the 6 volt system with a + ground?? If yes then the switch may not be grounded like it needs to be. If it is the 12 volt system and negative ground then you have the wrong solenoid

The solenoid looks like a new one. Do you know that it takes a special grounding solenoid? Not the same old same old Ford type solenoid?

That right there tells me you have the wrong starter solenoid.
You need a solenoid that if you touch the wire to ground it starts.

You either ordered the wrong one or they sent the wrong one.

To check my assumption take a test light and check the big post on right and small post.
You should have power at both all the time.
If you have power at the big post on the right but not at the small post you have the wrong solenoid.

The part you need is NCA11450A.

Hello,

Thank you everyone for replying. Ended up ordering the wrong solenoid from here, remedied that. To confirm, the new one will hook up the same?
