Kubota 2WD drive tractors

I recently viewed the local Kubota website and it indicated they had a 2WD tractor in stock so I requested an online quote. Salesman emailed and indicated they did not stock 2WD tractors so I suggested they should revise their online inventory as it was incorrect. Salesman did not respond.
I know that 4WD is the most popular option but I do not need 4WD. So, the question is, are 2WD tractors about to become obsolete?

I've owned 7 different Kubota tractors up to 60 hp. Some two wheel drive and some 4 wheel drive. You will not regret paying the extra for the four wheel drive if nothing else the resale value.

For the most part they are obsolete. But if you want a new tractor for light work like pulling a rake or just need horsepower to run an auger, there is nothing wrong with the idea. But generally most people will use an older tractor for that.

Kubota does offer a 2 wd 50 hp tractor. Our local dealer had one last year. I could have bought it for $27,000.00 with a canopy. Good value I thought, but I really dont have much for a tractor that small to do anymore.

I agree they should not list something in stock if it isn't there. They likely do that as a bait and switch.

Yes, 2wd are basically obsolete. Locally there hasn't been a 2wd tractor new on the lots in years, rare to see any newer tractors in 2wd unless special ordered.

Having said that, 2wd works perfectly fine for some applications.

4wd however, works fine for all applications.

I was looking on Kubota Canada to see if they still did, looks like it's an MX series.

There were a very few M series 2wd (M6800, M7040) ROPS models I've come across locally.

Bingo.

Modern 2WD tractors do not sell well, new or used.

Everyone wants FWA whether they need it or not.

I think area has a lot to do with dealer stock. Around here in PA, there are a lot of dairy farms, so naturally a lot of hay fields. Most guys around here run 2wd tractors for haying. All the local dealers always seem to have 2wd tractors in stock, even though there are far more 4wd tractors on the lots.I personally like a 2wd tractor for haying, since they don't tear up the land near as much, and turn tighter, but I am afraid, the dealers won't make any money off me, since I run old junk, lol.

For strictly mowing purposes, I got the CASE D40, back around 2012, there was 2WD in the D series and 4wd in the DX series, the line expanded into the FARMALL line also, up to 60hp models.
The same options were available under the NEW HOLLARD name also, Basically a pick red or blue machine, except blue cost more......

Your dealer may not stock them but Kubota still makes them. You might just have to order one to get it. Be careful with the new Kubota's, I can't remember which one but they discontinued one because they couldn't work out the problems with the emissions. Parts will disappear from the world long before you need them.

I know the 4WD is probably the best economical value in terms of resale but I just simply don't need it and I usually keep everything until it is worn completely out anyway. Thanks to everyone for the comments.

Might not need the front axle all the time. But sure is nice when it is there. Like having a coat. Don't need it all the time but sure is nice to have when you do.

I don't think you will ever see 2wd's dropped. This clean 2wd will probably sell rather quickly.

I have a Kubota L4400, 2 wheel drive, I purchased it new
Great tractor, good traction,
I use it for mowing and I have a 5ft rototiller
good on fuel.
I would buy another one

Most 2 wheel drives most of the time one wheel will spin. So in my opinion they are only one wheel drives unless they have a limited slip or locking differential.

My terramites are 2 wheel limited slip. They work just fine. I don't see how my Kubota 4 wheel is that much better when using loader. Many times I want to have down pressure on loader removing weight off front wheels.
I have no regrets buying Kubota loader, 4 wheel drive, and cab. The hydraulics on the Kubota are light years ahead of my 2 wheel terramites. No regrets buying the terramites except when I have to rebuild hydraulic cylinders and replace aging hoses.
I think my Kubota has locking differential, just never used it.

A 2WD will sell quickly for the simple reason that it is CHEAPER than a similar size/weight/HP tractor in 4WD.

Most buyers will regret their decision sooner or later. Good for the dealer because they usually come back and trade for a 4WD.

I see EVENTUALLY there being a time when 2WD is no longer offered. Once it becomes unprofitable for manufacturers to stock it as an option, they will stop offering it. That will happen when the number of sales of 2WD tractors falls below a certain threshold.

That would be the B3350.

It was replaced with the LX3310 which uses an emissions system like other Kubota tractors unlike the unique and (forever) trouble-prone system used on the B3350.

Yup, try finding a manual transmission 1/2 ton. No sales, they stopped offering it, automatic only.

I consider any purchase of a brand new 2wd tractor to be a lifetime commitment.
