Anyone know of some inexpensive tines
for this tiller? Friend bought it and
all he can find are high dollar ones.

Tines gonna cost more than tiller.....

How bad are they?? I wonder if you could weld some steel onto them and grind a edge on them?

Most tiller tines due to being the type of steel they are cannot be welded on or you just waste your time and destroy the tines due to them being temper

I have welded (arc) old plow shares on them and other things. It is rocky and sandy here. Theyworked and lasted but it was not an easy dealfinding enough material or getting teeth clean enough to properly weld. good luck.

Old,
I've used mig before. It isn't as hot of a weld as a stick. Attached copper plate to tine to prevent over heating.

I bought additional tines for my landscape rake at AgriSupply and they were much cheaper than Tractor Supply or anyone else. Not the same as tiller tines but they may sell the ones you need at a reasonable price.

I have hard surfaced troy tines and Howard tines with good luck. If you do it regularly, you can make cheap tines last a long time. The abrasive resistance rods are best ,not tungsten. I flattened out a large copper pipe to weld against so not to burn the edge of the tine. You don't have to sharpen them. They sharpen themselves. Good luck.
