Hydraulic reservoir hose?

I'm replacing all the hoses on the Wagner loader on my 8N..the pressure side hoses are easy, but what do I do with the large hose from the frame reservoir to the front pump and from the control valve to the frame reservoir?

Do I need some kind of hydraulic specific hose for these two, or can I use something like the hardware store PVC hose, radiator hose, or something else that I might be able to find locally in a hardware store?

They make hydraulic suction hose. It's
designed to handle the oil, and the
heat, and typically has a metal spiral in
it to keep it from collapsing when used in
a suction application.

Most hose available through a hardware
store, etc isn't going to have all these
features.

It should be hydraulic suction hose. But
I used a piece of clear PVC vinyl hose
with reinforcement from the hardware
store. It's been on there about 10 years
now and there have been no problems.
About eight feet of 1 inch hose. BTW the
return hose is the same stuff.

It needs to be Neoprene hydraulic return hose (or reinforced vinyl).

What will not work is rubber hose, like radiator hose. The oil will attack and swell the hose.

I learned decades ago you only replace a hose when it starts to leak. Back in the 80s my dad got an 8N with a loader and backhoe. It had some hoses that looked bad and he wanted to replace many of them. Well I told him NO replace as they go bad. Well many of them are still on it from way back then. Or in other words if it not broken DON'T fix it. Or KISS keep it simple stupid

With the price of oil now its foolish to let it dump on the
ground when you can buy the hose for the cost of ten gallons
of oil

Well, you may enjoy a pressurized hydraulic shower when a hose let's go, but I certainly didn't enjoy the last one, and that was a hose on the bucket curl cylinder. I have absolutely zero desire to experience a shower from one of the lift cylinder hoses, seeing as how I have a pair of them mere inches from me. I've seen the results of oil getting injected into someone's skin, and it isn't pretty.

As for my hose conundrum, it's not that I'm attempting to cheap out on this, but rather that I have a tractor now blocking my driveway, with one of the the front pump suction hose having swelled to the point that it easily slides on/off the fitting. Seeing as how I have the whole system drained, it seemed like now is a better time to take care of that problem. But I don't have anything local that's open on Sundays other than Ace Hardware/Home Depot/Lowes, etc., and was hoping I wouldn't have to order in 6 inches of hose somewhere...
