Auction is 3 days, tomorrow is the last day. Our tractor club
drives tractors through the ring for them.Today I drove 9
tractors through for a combined total of $72,500 worth of
tractors and I didnt get to drive any of the real expensive
ones. They sold 221 tractors today, only about 150 for
tomorrow. Saw a Ford for Grandpa Love, narrow front 961
brought $2000.A couple of Cases for jon f, A nice looking
VAC that smoked terrible, wasnt a mosquito within 100
miles!!

They sell them inside a building, drive in the east door and out
the west door, they didnt let that one stop, just kept it moving.
It brought $1500. Had a nice looking 1030 that sold for $7000.
I finally got to drive an Oliver 1800 through the ring, it sold for
$4400. They have enough help for tomorrow, so I think Ill stay
home.

Yesterday a John Deere guy drove a 4020 diesel through ahead of me, and when we parked, he couldn't get it shut off. He was getting ready to try to kill it in gear when I walked up and told him to wait just a minute, I reached up and pulled the throttle knob out and pushed it up and shut it off. He said that he had forgotten how to shut it off. I teased him that it was pretty bad when you have to have an Oliver guy show a John Deere guy how to shut off a John Deere!!!

$7000 for a 1030 is pretty good, but case tractors have been going up compared to other brands lately. Just had a 2290 and 2390 sell for record amount a while back. Don't remember what that was and can't find it now, but I think it was over $30,000 each. That's good for a smoking VAC too.

my neighbor tell a story when his dad bought a new 4020 and plow and he drove it home and had to call the dealer to see how to shut it off.

You can see the listing on the Mecum Gone Farming website. Most all of Thursdays tractors( John Deere) came from one collector in California. As I was told, Mecums bought the property in Rock Island, Ill that the old IH combine plant was on and built a large complex there to have their sales at. All of those tractors and others were delivered to Rock Island. Illinois governor Fat Boy decided that they couldn't have a live auction there because of some unidentified bug going around, so they had to haul all of the tractor and implements across the river to the Mississippi Valley Fairgrounds in Davenport, Ia. for the sale. Kick is, the National Corn hole Championships were held this weekend in Rock Island at the Mecum Auction Complex. Must have figured there wouldn't be as many corn holers there as there would have been tractor buyers.

Sounds like you're still suffering some post election hangover 99. Good response until the name calling showed up, I thought my question was a million miles away from politics. Brucie listened to his boss too much and thought he was a shoe in.
