when operating my pto driven chipper the engine stalls out after about 10min. I have installed an electronic ignition, rerouted the fuel line (vapor lock) rebuilt carburetor, changed fuel filters, still stalls after 10min operating. someone suggested a cracked intake manifold. It does smoke from that area after shut down.

Might it be the coil heating up and going bad? Had that happen on an old 9N one time, but took longer than 10 minutes for it to quit. I could
come back after an hour or so and the tractor would crank up fine and go again for a while.

It's not the intake manifold. It's also not vapor lock.

Does it restart after a few minutes?

If so, and you have verified that the fuel cap is properly vented and not drawing a vacuum in the tank, short out the ignition switch.

It could be the well known and difficult to diagnose Ford ignition switch gremlin. If shorting out the ignition switch solves the problem, replace thw switch.

Sounds like it is running out of fuel.Or the coil is bad. About 10 min is about right for either of those two things. You rebuilt the carb, but did you check the rest of the fuel system?'Crap',rust
etc can cet into the lines and partially plug things up,causeing fuel starvation. About 10 min is about right for this to happen.Remove the gas line from the carb, check for full flow, catch the gas
in a can,let it run for a bit. If restricted flow, start backward to the tank, includeing the petcock, If all is well, then go to the carb. Pull the drain plug and watch.Once the carb bowl is
drained, there should be a consistent flow of fuel. Let it run for a bit, catching it in a can.Or a bad coil can do that, too. When it stalls, immediately check the coil. If it really HOT,it is bad.
Replace it. About 10 minites is about right for a bad coil to overheat and fail.Maybe the smoke is comeing from the coil area?

It could be running to lean under load ,
try turning out the main jet a 1/4 turn at a time to see if it
improves , good indicator of too lean is white / gray deposits
on plug tips , should be brown . It may be
overheating under load , gently blow out radiator fins

(quoted from post at 10:08:42 03/23/21) when operating my pto driven chipper the engine stalls out after about 10min. How long does it take before it will start again?

Do you have spark when it won't start?

Is it getting fuel when it won't start?

Does it only stall when operating the chipper?

Does it run fine doing anything else?

Will it run other PTO equipment without stalling?

Is your chipper binding somewhere, bad bearings maybe, and heating up to the point of stalling the engine?

Many possible scenarios. Narrow it down some and let us know what you find.

Pull the drain plug from the bottom of the carb, catch the gas in a clean glass. Be ready to do this as soon as it falters.

Engine off, fuel valve on, you should get an endless stream of gas, not a drip or flow and stop. If the flow is slow or stops, start checking back toward the tank for the restriction. There may be a screen inside the inlet elbow of the carb.

Look at what was caught, if water, dirt, rust, the tank is contaminated and the same will be inside the carb.

If all that checks out, be ready to check the spark at the plug end of each wire immediately when it quits. Should have a 1/4 blue hot spark to ground.

If weak, check the spark at the coil. Feel the coil can, it should not be hotter than the surrounding components. Possibly it has the wrong coil For a 12v system with no resistor, it needs a true 12v coil. Example, NAPA IC14SB. Be sure to go by what is stamped on the coil, not what the box says or the counter person says.
