JD just a little too cheap???

Just browsing through the local Craigslist and saw a 2008 JD 5625 4wd with a loader and just over 1,000 hrs on it. What seems off to me is that they only want $6,400 for it. Looks like it's darn near new in the pics. I'm not an expert on prices for a lot of used stuff, but this makes my spidey-sense tingle...They also accept crypto currency...
Other than a P.O.'d ex-wife, seems WAY too low for a tractor that nice...Am I wrong???

could it be a misprint? Or perhaps like the embittered exwife who sold her exhusband's expencive sports car for a dollar? LOL

It's a SCAM ad! It's as simple as that! This is nothing new on Craigslist!

2008 John Deere 5625 4wd and Loader 100HP - $6,400

Saw the same ad. Think its a scam. Writer has no knowledge about what hes selling. Says it has three rear remotes, but pictures (of levers) show only two.

Maybe it's stolen. Seller wants to make a quick sale. That happened to a friend. He called about a trailer. Seller wanted to meet him, deliver, wanted to seel right away for cash,at a reduced price... My friend saw right through it.

A simple thing to do when you see one of these too good to be true ads is right click on the picture in the ad and select search for image.

In the case of the ad you are looking at I just did it and found the exact same machine with the exact same pictures for sale in multiple different states for various prices, also with almost identical descriptions.

Scammers that don't have an actual tractor to sell need to get pictures from somewhere which makes it easy for us to search for the same images and weed them out.

Craigslist is littered with those scam ads. After a while they become extremely obvious. Never a phone number, only a gmail email address. Many descriptions are just copied from other ads, and many times don't even match the pictures. Often times the descriptions are obviously written by someone with a poor grasp of the English language.
Even just looking at the pictures makes it obvious, as they always brighten and enhance the pictures.

OK, obviously a scam but once you make contact with the seller (let's imagine that), you're going to send them some money up front I suspect? I guess it must work since it happens all the time, just hard to imagine but there are a lot of vulnerable people on the planet.

Got em on this side of the pond as well! Plenty of WOW! Tractors and equipment for sale . Most of them dont exist or from old ads that were once genuine. Its not that difficult to find other info on most ads or the claimed seller.

They've upped their game. Used to be the price was around $1000 or $2000. They've started making the price more believable.

Yes, it's a scam. Even disgruntled wives are not that stupid.

A friend of mine who I thought to be pretty intelligent was well on his way to falling for one of those scams. He responded on a whim and got the disgruntled wife going through a divorce story. It all sounded pretty convincing.

Didn't you flag it? Anytime I see something that I'm sure is a scam I flag it. Usually the text is incoherent, and the photos are a little generic.

I gave up trying to flag these. I went at it every day morning and evening for about a week. They somehow managed to freeze my flagged listing page. I had to reset my Chromebook. Everyone is right. I checked some of these across the entire USA and the same ad appeared over at least 8-10 state areas widely separated. A relative was really really interested in buying a listed New Holland or Ford with a front end loader. I checked it and sure enough it was for sale across the entire US.

When someone gets tractor fever it is easy to forgo caution and get scammed. "If it seems to good to be true ------". I had to talk them down like on weight watchers or A.A.

Nope. I don't go on there anymore.

No tractor, just an invitation for you to send them real money and get nothing for it.

Usually it's "in storage" and they will deliver it, but you have to pay upfront with out seeing it. Act now!!!!

Yeah, I did flag it. Of course I'd never buy anything like that sight unseen. All the equipment I've bought on Craigslist or on here I went and picked up in person, and that's when cash was exchanged. I might take a chance on a cheap part here and there. I've only been scammed once, and that was for a downloadable manual, think I posted the company name here a couple of years ago.
